How to Find Your Smartphone's Serial & Model Number

Quick overview

Serial numbers (S/N) and Model Numbers help identify your smartphone for warranty, support, or repairs.

Common places to check

1
Phone Settings

The easiest way to find your serial number:

  • Android: Go to Settings › About phone › Status › Serial number.
On some devices, it may appear under About device › Model & hardware info or Settings › System › About phone.
If you can’t find “Serial Number,” look for IMEI — most Android phones list both together.
Tip: You can also dial *#06# to instantly show your phone’s IMEI on screen.
  • iPhone: Go to Settings › General › About › Serial Number.
You can also see the IMEI listed on the same screen — useful when contacting Apple Support.
  • 2
On the SIM Tray or Back of the Phone

Some phones (especially older iPhones and certain Android models) have the S/N or IMEI etched on the SIM tray or printed on the back panel near the bottom edge. Use good lighting or a magnifier to read small engraved text.

    3
    Original Packaging

Check the box your phone came in — serial and model numbers are printed on the barcode label on one side. You may see both: Model: SM-G991B S/N: R58T1234ABC

    4
    Purchase Receipt or Email Confirmation

Look at your invoice, receipt, or order confirmation email — many retailers list the S/N or IMEI number there.

    5
Apple ID / Google Account Online

If your phone is turned on or linked to your account:
Apple: Sign in to appleid.apple.com → Devices → Select your iPhone → View Serial Number.
Android / Google: Go to mydevices.google.com → Find your registered phone → Click for details.

    Examples & formats

Serial and model numbers vary. Here are typical examples you might see:

    Model: SM-A546U, iPhone 14 Pro, Pixel 8
    Serial: RF8K12A3XYZ or G6TZR0RPLF9T
What to Do with the Numbers
    • Register your phone on the manufacturer’s website for warranty or repairs.
    • Use the model number when searching for user manuals, cases, or firmware updates.
    • Provide both the Model and S/N or IMEI when contacting customer support.
    • Keep a record of your serial and model numbers in a safe place in case your phone is lost or stolen.

🧠 Tip: Serial Numbers are long alphanumeric codes (letters + numbers). Model numbers are shorter and may include brand codes like “SM-”, “A2-”, or “iPhone”.

    🔒 Privacy & Safety Note

Serial numbers are unique identifiers. Don’t post them publicly when asking for help — share privately with authorized support only.
